Opportunity for a high-energy visionary leader with strong public relations, planning, and marketing skills to fill the position of Executive Director of Region 18 Education Service Center. 

About Region 18 ESC

Region 18 is the largest of twenty ESC regions in the state as it encompasses 37,553 square miles. The region includes 19 counties, 33 school districts, 173 campuses, 7 charter campuses, over 7,000 professional educators and over 88,000 students.  Region 18 ESC’s main office is located in Texas between Midland and Odessa, adjacent to Midland International Airport.  Region 18 ESC employs 137 staff members and has two field offices.  One field office is located in Fort Davis, Texas.  The other field office is located in Austin, Texas, and houses the Texas Center for Educator Excellence.

Professional Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a school district superintendent

  • Hold a master’s degree from an accredited university

  • Demonstrate strong commitment to student achievement and school performance

  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Experience in supervision of personnel and management of a budget

  • Experience in planning, developing and implementing innovative programs

  • Experience in using outcome measures to evaluate the effectiveness of organization processes, programs, and personnel

  • Knowledge of current educational practices and research

  • Knowledge of the state accountability system for academic performance

  • Knowledge of public education school finance and school law

  • Knowledge of Chapter 8 of the Texas Education Code

  • Understanding of the  role of Education Service Centers in providing assistance to schools and school personnel

  • Understanding of the  role of Education Service Centers in providing assistance for state initiatives

  • Understanding of needs of large, small, and rural school districts and for communication with school leadership

  • Understanding of the role of technology in improving instruction in the classroom

  • Understanding of the role of technology in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of school districts and ESC operations

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary is negotiable and will be determined by the ESC18 Board of Directors
