Required Trainings Certification Services

Region 18 ESC certification staff members have developed a suite of online course offerings to satisfy the traditionally required trainings including Sexual Harassment, HIPAA and FERPA, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Reporting Child Abuse.

 

Paraprofessional Certification Services

Region 18 ESC has developed “Treasuring our Paraprofessional“ (T.O.P.) Services to help paraprofessionals meet the requirements of the federal legislation.

 

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification

This is a full-day (eight-hour) Crisis Prevention Intervention training.  Individuals wishing to become certified and/or recertified in CPI may attend.  This training meets the state-mandated requirements for the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) Module 7 (Physical Restraint).  CPI certification is good for one year.

 

Handle With Care (HWC) Certification

This is a full-day (eight-hour) Handle With Care training.  Individuals wishing to become certified and/or recertified in HWC may attend.  This training meets the state-mandated requirements for the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) Module 7 (Physical Restraint). HWC certification is good for one year.

 

Handle With Care (HWC) Trainer of Trainers (TOT)

This is a full-day (eight-hour) Handle With Care Trainer of Trainers training.  Individuals wishing to become a trainer in the HWC program must have received their HWC certification within the past year. This training meets the state-mandated requirements for the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) Module 7 (Physical Restraint). HWC Trainer of Trainers certification is good for one year.

 

Counselor Certification

Through a partnership with Region 4 ESC, educational professionals with a Master’s degree have the opportunity to earn a Texas School Counselor certificate. The coursework for counselor certification through Region 4 ESC is all completed online, and the candidate serves a year-long practicum on a campus.

 

School Bus Driver Safety Certification

School Bus Driver Safety Certification is a state-mandated program to provide training and coursework for school bus drivers.  The Region 18 Bus Driver Certification Division establishes and maintains a database of school bus driver certification records and reports and assists districts in maintaining compliance with the requirements of the student transportation system. Instructors are located throughout our 19-county region, with classes scheduled periodically throughout the year.

 

Certification and Personnel Services

Region 18 ESC certification staff offers Certification and Personnel Services to assist districts with any issue in regard to certification, personnel, and human resource management.  This service is offered in two tiers to accommodate a basic level of support in Tier I and a more advanced online option for managing human resources utilizing SearchSoft programming in Tier II.  SearchSoft Solutions by People Admin provides the highest quality recruitment, selection, hiring, and retention software for school districts. The applicant tracking and job posting system improves the effectiveness of recruiting and screening, speeds up the hiring process, and reduces recruiting costs by 40% or more. It is simple to use, requires very little training, and can be implemented in just a matter of days.
